Welcome to Kecskemét!
Kecskemét lies in the middle of Hungary, in the region of the sandy hills between the rivers Danube and Tisza, 86 kilometres south of Budapest.The settlement was established at the cross-roads of ancient trading routes and its location an favourable geographical characteristics brought the town into the lime-light from among the neighbouring villages.
The chapter of King Nagy Lajos from 1368 mentions it as market-town.

Town Hall

It was built between  1893 – 1896 in Hungarian Art Nuovo style by the plans of Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos. The characteristics of the outside walls are given by the harmony of the motives taken from folk art and the majolica of Zsolnay mentions it as market-town.

Big Catholic Church

It was built between 1774 – 1806 by the plans of Gáspár Oswald .It is the biggest copf stylecathedral In Great Hungarian Plain. Plain built in the style of the age of Louis 16 of France.Looking down from the 75 meters high.

Franciscan Church

The oldest archtectural monument of the town. It was  reconstructed and enlarged several times during The centuries . Int he place of its cemetery a park with ancient ruins can be found.

Franciscan Coister

The former franciscan cloister was rebuilt by the plans of József Kerényi, keeping the original characteristics of the historic monument. The exhiition ont he walk of the town’s  son Zoltán Kodály, also got place in this building.

Calvinist Church

It was built between 1680–1684. It was built during the last period of the Turkish occupation. It was reconstructed because of enargement and conflagration several times.

József Katona Theatre

It was built between 1895 - 1896.It was built at the end of the last  century in eclectic style by the plans of two Viennese architect, Hermann Hellmer and Ferninand Fellner.

Holy Trinity Statue

It was built between 1741 – 1742 by the plans of Antal Conti Lipót.

The New College

It was built the plans of Valér Mende, between 1911 – 1913 . The Calvinist congregation  and its museum, library and the Zoltán Kodály Musical Primary , Vocational Secondary ,and Musical Secondary Grammer School can be found here.

Ornamented Palace

This spectacular masterpiece of the Secessionist sytle at the turn of the century was made by the Hungarian  architect , called Géza Márkus in 1902.

House of Science and Technics

József Kerényi planned an impressive cultural centre from the Moorish – romantic synagogue. The genuine plaster – casts of 15 sculptures of Michelangelo, the inheritance of Károly Tolnai , art historian are kept here as well.
